IMPLANT SUPPORTED DENTURE
IMPLANT SUPPORTED DENTURE
An implant-supported denture is a type of overdenture that is anchored to dental implants instead of just resting on the gums. It offers better stability, comfort, and functionality compared to traditional dentures. These can be fixed or removable, depending on the patient’s needs.
Implant-supported dentures provide a secure chewing experience by distributing biting forces through dental implants rather than the gums. The design also enhances speech clarity and boosts confidence, as the denture stays firmly in place throughout daily activities. Whether chosen as a fixed or removable option, implant-supported dentures offer a more stable and natural-feeling solution for individuals seeking improved function and quality of life.
Benefits Of Implant Supported Denture
Improved stability and comfort compared to regular dentures
Prevents bone loss by stimulating the jawbone
Enhanced chewing ability and speech
No need for adhesives or pastes
Natural look and feel
Can be removed for easy cleaning (if removable)
Long-lasting with proper care
What is the process of Implant Supported Denture?
The process starts with a dental consultation and 3D imaging to evaluate your bone density and oral health. If you’re a candidate, the dentist surgically places 2 to 6 implants into your jawbone. These implants are allowed to heal and integrate with the bone over a few months. Once the healing is complete, a custom denture is designed to securely attach to the implants. The final denture can either snap onto the implants (removable) or be permanently fixed in place. Follow-up visits ensure proper fitting and function.
FAQS
Typically, 2 to 6 implants are used depending on the jaw and whether the denture is full or partial.
They can be either fixed (permanent) or removable, based on your preference and treatment plan.
Local anesthesia is used during implant placement, and most patients report only mild discomfort afterward.
With proper care, the implants can last a lifetime, and the dentures themselves usually last 10–15 years before needing replacement.
